Totally new paradigm: AD is a real disease with clear,measurable, defined molecular findings diagnostic for the condition. We are no longer defining it by symptoms (old school!) but now by PET scanner findings of amyloid in brains.
That puts AD in the solid grounds of other medical diseases like HTN, diabetes, cancer, etc. Still academic, but soon to be clinical hopefully.
